Wylie Lenue Hooks, Sr., 80, of Harmony, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 29, 1935 in Conway, S.C. to the late Celia Hooks. Mr. Hooks was educated in South Carolina Schools and was married to Judy Snyder Hooks in 1958. They enjoyed over 58 years of marriage before his passing. He worked for Rea Construction as a grader operator and retired after 40 years of service. After his retirement, he started a new career as Owner/Operator of Hooks Trucking. Mr. Hooks was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. He was a man who worked hard all his life to provide for his family. He never met a stranger and will be missed by all that knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy; two daughters, Joy Redmond (Garry) of Statesville and Kathy Walls of Jacksonville, FL; three sons, Wiley “Buster” L. Hooks, Jr. of Harmony, Bryan Hooks (Alisa) of Statesville, and Michael Hooks (LeAnn) of McCalla, AL; and nine grandchildren, Chad Redmond (Terri), Jacob Redmond, Hannah Redmond, Jared Walls, Rebekah Walls, Morgan Hooks, Matthew Hooks, Brodie Hooks, and Aubree Hooks. He is further survived by a sister, Betty Hooks Johnson (Larry), a sister-in-law, Zetta Sweeney, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Hooks will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Sweet Home Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Blalock, Jr., Rev. R.C. Redmond, and Rev. Larry Johnson officiating.
