Mrs. Wilma Doris Ballard Jenkins, 78, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Jenkins was born March 1, 1934 in Lincoln County and was the daughter of the late Carl Ballard, Sr. and Mary Ethel Lineberger Ballard. She was a graduate of Sherrill's Ford High School and on June 30, 1956, she married Evert Earl Jenkins, who survives. Mrs. Jenkins was a retired assignment clerk with Bellsouth and was a member of Liledoun Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Carl Jr., Raymond, Macon and Bill Ballard and two sisters, Vivian Caldwell and Mary Frances Ballard. In addition to her husband of 56 years, Evert Jenkins, Mrs. Jenkins is also survived by three sons, Richard Jenkins of Stony Point, Mike Jenkins (Sherry) of Monck's Corner, SC and Brad Jenkins (Teresa) of Stony Point and one daughter, Susan Jenkins Pope (Mike) of Statesville. Additional survivors include two grandsons, Michael Jenkins, Jr. of Statesville and Andrew Jenkins of Greenville, NC; three step grandsons, Andrew Gray of Monck's Corner, SC, Joshua Jones of Pensacola, FL and Lewis Jenkins of Stony Point; one step granddaughter, Samantha Carpenter of Stony Point. She is further survived by two brothers, Dottice Ballard (Sylvia) of Stanley, NC and Donald Ballard (Shirley) of Catawba and one sister, Miriam Dancy of Mooresville. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Jenkins will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 25, 2012 in the Liledoun Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. James Locke officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
