William Jerry Whitley

William Jerry Whitley, 73, of Statesville, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at his residence.  He was born in Davie County on May 8, 1941 to the late William “Bill” Bruce Whitley and Hilda Holthouser Whitley. Mr. Whitley attended Cool Spring High School and on March 17, 1962 married Joyce Anne Dagenhart Whitley, who preceded him in death on January 21, 2009.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served as an aircraft mechanic.  He was a machinist most of his career and was a member of Broad Street Church of Christ. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandsons. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Cheryl Ann W. Bridges (Jeremy), two grandsons, Lincoln and Hudson Bridges; and a sister, Sue Alexander, all of Statesville. A graveside funeral service with military honors provided by the Iredell County Veterans Burial Detail will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Abilene Church of Christ Cemetery with Mr. Dave Wood officiating.
