William Brian Mason, 59, of Statesville, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 2, 2017. He was born on February 15, 1957 in Iredell County to the late James Floyd Mason and Flossie Woodward Mason, who survives. Brian was a graduate of North Iredell High School and Mitchell College. He married Debby Rickert on July 2, 1977. They enjoyed over 39 years of marriage before his passing. Brian was a member of Snow Creek United Methodist Church and was a fabricator with JMS Southeast. He was a loving husband, father, and papaw. Brian loved spending time with his grandkids, beach trips, riding his motorcycle, and working on cars. He was an avid target shooter and participated in many turkey shoots. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Gary Mason. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debby of the home; his mother, Flossie; two sons, Christopher James Mason (Wendy) of Olin and Matthew Brian Mason (Katie) of Statesville; a daughter, Lindsey Brooke Mason of Statesville; a granddaughter, McKenzie Lynn Mason of Olin; a grandson, Layton James Mason of Statesville; a brother, Charles Wayne Mason of Statesville; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry Allen Mason (Janet) of Troutman. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Snow Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Pope and Rev. Marsha Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church prior to the service from 12:00 until 1:00pm. The family would like give a special thank you to Brian’s angels at Dr. Sholar’s office, the 4th Floor nurses at Iredell Memorial Hospital, and Gordon Hospice House for the love and care they provided.
