Mr William Norman Hawks

Mr. William Norman Hawks, 76, of Statesville, died Sunday, February 2, 2020 at his home. Born in Iredell County on October 12, 1943, he was a son of the late Hugh Thomas Hawks and Alma Mae Ledford Hawks. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver for Hubbard Farms.
He enjoyed bird watching, watching the stock market, reading and family. He served is country in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam War.
He also loved to fish and was an excellent griller and smoker and enjoyed going to the Smokey and Blue Ridge Mountains with family.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Harris Hawks, a son, Steven Shepherd, a daughter, Kelly Shepherd and three daughters by a previous marriage, Leslie, Diane and Suzie. He is also survived by brothers, Tommy and Gary Hawks and sisters: Joyce Summers and JoAnn Jarett along with a very special granddaughter, Arianna Tran.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with full military rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Burial Detail. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
