William "Bug" Eugene Morrison

William Eugene “Bug” Morrison, 84, of Statesville, passed away, Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House following a period of declining health. Mr. Morrison was born February 5, 1933 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Charles Glenn Morrison and Lucy Sipes Morrison. He was a graduate of Scotts high School and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years and the U.S Postal Service. During his time in the U.S. Air Force he served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was married to Mary Rosalyn Forbes Morrison, who survives and was a member of New Amity ARP Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kevin E. Morrison and William M. Morrison, both of Statesville, four grandchildren, Kevin E. Morrison, Jr., Matthew Glenn Morrison, Nicholas Dean Morrison, Ryan David Morrison, one great grandchild, Bentley Eugene Morrison, one brother, Kenneth Morrison of Maggie Valley, NC and two sisters, Dorothy M. Summers of Statesville and JoAnn M. Payne of Statesville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert R. Morrison and Charles L. Morrison. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at New Amity ARP Church with Rev. Dr. Earl Linderman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening 6-8 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Amity ARP Church or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
