Mr. William Henry Crawford, 88, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Crawford was born August 14, 1922 in Iredell County and was the son of the late William Burton Crawford and Mary Victory Crawford. He was a graduate of Cool Springs High School and on Oct. 3, 1959 was married to Dorothy Lawrence Crawford, who survives of the home. Mr. Crawford was self employed in the dairy and beef cattle business for many years in Iredell County and Virginia. He operated a cattle farm at Elk Creek, VA for 32 years, before returning to Iredell County in 2000 to make his home. He and Mrs. Crawford loved to travel, having visited all 49 states in the continental United States. He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Mr. Crawford is survived by three daughters, Jackie Smith (James) of Thurman, NC, Mary Rose Kennedy (Barry) of Mocksville, Lois Perdue (Sam) of Greenville, NC; one son, Burt Crawford (Linda) of Joliet, Montana and four grandchildren, Victoria and Elizabeth Kennedy, Will and John Crawford and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Frank and Hugh Crawford. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Frank Stewart officiating. The family will visit with friends in the Church Fellowship Hall following the graveside service.
