Wanda Sue Johnson Howington, 74, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Born in Newport, TN, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Greer Johnson and Jodie Lee Miller Johnson. In 1967, she married her husband of 49 years, Charles Jewl Howington who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Steven Charles Howington, Sr.; and brother, Chucky Wayne Johnson.
Wanda worked at Wayne Trademark as a rewinder. In 1984, she pursued her passion and built The Clown Around Gang. She was affectionately known as Happy the Clown, performing at birthday parties and corporate events in North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia. She brought smiles and warmed hearts of everyone she met. Wanda never met a stranger.
Left to cherish her memory include her son, Jonathan Howington of the home; grandson, Steven Charles Howington of Thomasville; granddaughter, Angel Gabriel Howington of Sophia; step-grandsons, Adam Leonard of Sophia, Christopher Leonard of Randleman, and Daniel Burris of Concord; step-granddaughter, Brittanie Simpson of Concord; great-granddaughter, Kimberly Shyann Adair; step-great grandsons, Jakkob Leonard-Hall and Waylon Burris; sisters, Charlene Johnson of Thomasville, and JoAnn Lones of Snow Camp; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at Word Seekers International Church, 812 Nance Ave., High Point, NC 27263 on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 1:00 pm with Toby Johnson officiating. Nicholson Funerals & Cremations, Thomasville Chapel has the honor of serving the family.
