Walter 'Buddy' Sanford Grimmett

Walter Buddy Sanford Grimmett, 75 of Lexington, passed away at home on September 28, 2020. Buddy was born on July 12, 1945 to Sanford Sam Lilly Mae Grimmett in Logan, West Virginia. He was a coal truck driver owner and worked in the logging industry in West Virginia for many years. After moving to North Carolina, he worked for Forsyth County School system. Buddy was an avid horse lover all his life, in fact he married his wife of 31 years, Janice Cline Grimmett, on Kentucky Derby day. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents aka mom dad, Edna Joseph Yeager; sister, Sandra Grimmett; granddaughter, Toni Ann Preece; step son, Roy Darrell Toler, Jr. Mr. Grimmett is survived by his partner and companion, Janice Cline Grimmett; children, Jennifer Scott Snyder, Scott Shelia Grimmett, Amy Michael Painter, Christopher Courtney Grimmett, Daphney Branden Smith; step-daughters, Regina Craig Mankin, Velvet Wade Kirkpatrick; sisters, Shirley Odell Cresong, Joann Tompson, Gail John Cline, Audrey Gilpin; brothers, Jackie Grimmett, Timmy Wiley; eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and his canine companion, Bubba. There will be a memorial service in Gilbert, West Virginia at a later date.
