Mr. Wade Richard Kepley, 95, of Statesville and formerly of Salisbury, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Born May 26, 1921 in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Arthur Kepley and Jessie Wood Kepley. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jo Carroll Kepley. Mr. Kepley was a member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury. He was also an owner/operator of Kepley Brothers in Granite Quarry and Granite Lake. He attended Rowan County Schools and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Eller Kepley, sons, Dr. Michael Kepley (Sandy) of Statesville and Perry Kepley of Phoenix, Arizona, a brother, George Kepley of Faith, N.C., grandchildren: Jenny Watson (Jeremy), of Raleigh, Joshua St.Clair of Statesville, Jennifer Combs (Tyler) of Statesville, Melissa Hughes (Robert) of Goldsboro and Dr. John Michael Kepley (Stephanie) of San Antonio, Texas. Also surviving are great grandchildren: Sadie Jo Combs, Nolan Michael Kepley, Parker Avery Watson and Thaddeus Combs. Additional survivors include a step son, Jeff Askew and a step daughter, Cindy Waller. Services celebrating Mr. Kepley’s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 9, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Salisbury with Dr. Kenneth Lance and Rev. Stephen Dagenhart officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville with full military rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
