Mrs. Versie Lee Mason Adams, 79, of Statesville, passed away Friday, July 17, 2014, at Statesville Place. Mrs. Adams was born in Alexander County on August 21, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Watt Jiles Mason and Mary Ethel Shoemaker Mason. She was a graduate of Hiddenite High School and Mitchell Community College. On June 18, 1955, she married Charlie Lewis (Shorty) Adams, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2012. Mrs. Adams was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. She loved her church and served for many years as a secretary, clerk, treasurer, and worked with the VBS and the youth. Mrs. Adams was employed by J.C. Penney Distribution Center and following her retirement, worked for Dorothy Reep CPA. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association for more than 20 years and also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 65. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Dalmer Mason. She is survived by her son, Jeffery Adams (Amy) of Chesapeake, VA and one daughter, Janet Lee A. Braswell (Fred) of Charlotte. She is also survived by two grandsons, Brandon Adams of Sanford, NC and Mason Braswell of Charlotte along with three granddaughters, Taylor and Courtney Adams of Chesapeake, VA and Madison Braswell of Charlotte. She is further survived by one sister, Annie Mason Arrington and one brother, Danny Ray Mason (Dianne), both of Statesville along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services for Mrs. Adams will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Johnson and Rev. William Wease officiating. The family will visit with friends at the church fellowship hall from 2:00 until 3:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the N.C.
