Mr. Verlon Eldridge Driskill, 82, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011, following a brief illness. Mr. Driskill was born March 29, 1929 in Dawson, AL, and was the son of the late Charlie Berry Driskill and Annie Peal Richards Driskill. He was a graduate of Geraldine High School in AL and on March 17, 1957 he married to Rebecca Price Driskill, who survives. Mr. Driskill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in active duty during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was employed with Duke Power where he worked as a welding inspector. He was a member of 5 Creek Presbyterian Church and also a member of The Masons and Ruritans. Mr. Driskill was also preceeded in death by four brothers, C.B. Driskill, Herman Driskill, Harvell Driskill and Barney Driskill along with three sisters, Clarice Driskill, Farestine D. Lloyd and Bernice D. Rogers. In addition to his wife, Rebecca Price Driskill of the home, Mr. Driskill is also survived by one daughter, Deborah Driskill Bunton (Randy) and one son, David Driskill (Marty), both of Statesville; two grandchildren, Steven A. Bunton and Stephanie N. Brickley (Ben) along with one brother, Kenneth Ray Driskill (Judith) of AL. He is further survived by two great-grandchildren, Ethan D. McDaniel and Eli G. Brickley. Funeral services for Mr. Driskill will be conducted 3:00 pm Friday, November 25, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Judith Dellinger officiating. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Mooresville.
