William Thomas 'Tommy' Weeks passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem. Tommy was a kind and giving person who possessed a great love for God, his family and his friends. He loved sailing and being on the water. He moved to Lake Norman in 1975 where he built his home and remained for the last 37 years. He was born on April 9, 1937 in Statesville, NC and was the son of the late William Thomas Weeks, Sr. and the late Elsie Elizabeth Cash Weeks. He welcomed a son, William Thomas Weeks, III (Chere Early) in 1958 and a daughter Sherrie Lou Weeks Fain (David) in 1961. He married the late Jean Carrie Kurfees in 1978 and together they enjoyed 31 beautiful years. Tommy, affectionately known by many as 'Sheepdog', graduated from Statesville High School in 1955. He attended Mitchell College. He worked as an accountant, retiring from both Sears and American Concrete. Following retirement he purchased a concession trailer and enjoyed serving cotton candy, candy apples, and snow cones to all. He was a very active member of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Mooresville, serving as Treasurer and on the Vestry. He was a member of the Reidsville Jaycees where he also served as President. He was an avid volunteer spending a great amount of time in the Mooresville Soup Kitchen. In addition to his son and daughter, he is survived by a loving brother, Gerald Lee 'Scoot' Weeks and sister in law Joyce Caskaddon Weeks, grandsons James Kent 'Jake' Fain and William Bouldin Fain, mother in law Doris Chaffin Kurfees, sister in law Teresa Kurfees Johnson (Sherrill), nephew Steven Bradley Weeks (Rhonda), nieces Shannon Weeks Jordan, Carrie Johnson Furr (Noah), and Stacey Leigh Johnson, cousin Carroll Cash (Helen), furry companions Abby and Peppy, and many wonderful friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 30, 6:00pm at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Mooresville followed by a barbecue reception for family to receive friends.
