Timothy John Rutten

April 12, 1965 — January 12, 2016

Timothy John Rutten, 50, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Carroll, Iowa on Aril 12, 1965, he was a son of Gary Donald Rutten and Mary Siepker Rutten, of Statesville. Tim was of the Catholic faith, and was the Human Resources General Manager at ASMO of North Carolina. We are mourning the loss of our son, brother, husband, father and friend as he was brought home to watch over us. Above all, Tim was a family man who was always eager to take on a new project around the house and would do anything he could to help, even if it was just supervising. He was an avid outdoorsman which included fishing and hunting, and he also enjoyed motorcycles. Fishing was his greatest passion, as he was always thinking about getting his next cast. Tim recently accomplished an additional 1st place finish in a Father and Son Tournament this past Fall. The new duo has spawned the next generation of fishing. His home was always open for anyone who wanted to join. There were countless days and nights spent around the pool, fire pit and grills. Tim was very proud of all the family and friends that would share this time with him. Tim’s accomplishments were vast and great throughout the years, but he was always inspired to teach. He wanted to help people grow and exceed their greatest potential. He was a teacher in several arenas that included his professional career in multiple industries and also coached several local sports teams. Tim’s impact will continue to live on through the family and friends he touched. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Dawn Utley Rutten, his children, Alyssa, Tanner, Tyler and Dustin, brothers: Todd Rutten and his wife Teresa and their children, Ryan and Caitlin, and Troy Rutten along with a sister, Brandy Lackey and her husband, Chad and their children, Rome and Jake. Also surviving is his Mother-In-Law, Shirley Utley, and Rod and Terry and kids, Mark and Maura and son Eugene and Shawn and Tara and daughters, Randi and Charli and remembering with love, Shirley’s late husband, Eugene. Also remembering with love, Dawn’s late brother, Randy Utley. A funeral mass will be conducted at 11 :00 A.M. Monday at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church with Father Peter Fitzgibbons officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Private burial will be at a later time. Pallbearers will be: Michael Patrick, Mike Freeze, Jeff Orres, Danny Russell, Doug Bour, Brian Fox, Ryan Vandermaten and Mark Allison.
