Mr. Thomas “Tom” Lee Yost, 84, died on Monday, December 14, 2015, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, NC. He was born April 1, 1931, in Bluefield, WV and was the son of the late Richard and Mary Burton Yost. Mr. Yost was retired from Crossroads Homes as a salesman. Surviving is daughter, Dana Payne Cook (Ron) of White Sulphur Springs, WV; sons Michael Yost (Debra) of Jacksonville, FL, Glenn Yost (Gena) of Huntington, WV; stepdaughter, Pamela Carter and stepson Danny Mattox, both of Statesville; grandchildren John Thomas and Kelly Lee Yost, Jennifer Williams, Amber Coffee, and Elizabeth Carter along with great grandchildren Levi Williams, Jazalyn and Mya Nicole Coffee. Mr. Yost was preceded in death by his wife Gloria S. Yost; sisters Madylen Peters, Mary Fuller, Nancy Stewart and brothers, Richard, James, Avery, Rex, and Jack Yost. Mr. Yost was a past member of Memorial Baptist Church in Bluefield, WV and served as past Sunday school superintendent and deacon. He was a member of Command Baptist Church and served as an usher and member of the senior Sunday school class. He was a past Master of Harman Masonic Lodge #222. Past High Priest W.G. Bottimore Royal Arch Chapter #28. Past Commander Graham Commander #22, all in Bluefield, WV. Kazin Temple and Scottish Rite, Roanoke, VA, was a member Knight York of Honour, he was also a 32o Mason. He served in the US Airforce in the Korean War and attained the rank of Airman 1st Class. Services celebrating Tom’s life will be held at Command Baptist Church on Island Ford Road on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Tony Fox and Pastor Jim Morgan officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites by Masonic Lodge #593 of Stony Point and Military honors provided by the Iredell County Veterans Burial Detail will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. Masonic Lodge #593 of Stony Point will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy cook, Dale Napier, Charles Snider, Perry Jenkins, Jerry Houston, and Ronnie Cranford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Command Baptist Church.
