Mrs. Thelma Crawford Fox, 91, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Gordon Hospice House surrounded by family and friends. Mrs. Fox was born in Iredell County on June 10, 1926, and was the daughter of the late E.W. Crawford and Blanche Shell Crawford. She attended Scotts High School and on May 15, 1943, she married Devon E. Fox, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Fox was a homemaker and a member of Providence United Methodist Church. She loved cooking, gardening, quilting, and crocheting. Most of all though, she loved God, her church and her family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel, Watt, and Paul Crawford along with five sisters, Catherine Crawford, Hazel Hall, Cleora Hedrick, Sarah Bustle, and Jean Crawford Trent. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Douglas Fox and Richard Fox (Dana), one daughter, Mary F. Holton (John); two grandsons, John D. Holton and Andy Fox (Colleen Birney) along with a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Providence United Methodist Church with Pastor David Locke officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service. A private burial will precede the memorial service. Active pallbearers will be John Holton, Andy Fox, Ryan Oelenberger, Vic Ellis, Chuck Fox, and Steve Gatton.
