Sue (Brawley) Phipps

Sue B. Phipps, 95 of Statesville, passed away Thursday, December 01, 2016 at Gordon Hospice House. Born April 14, 1921 in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Brawley and Fannie Reid Brawley Compton. Mrs. Phipps was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church and worked for the Iredell School System at Northview Elementary in the cafeteria. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Glenn Phipps; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Mrs. Phipps is survived by a son, John Howard Phipps (Kathleen) of Statesville; a grandson, William Howard Phipps (Pam) of Fayetteville, and 2 great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday December 4, 2016 at Diamond Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Holleman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the church.  Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gideons International, Diamond Hill Baptist Church and Gordon Hospice House.
