James "Jimmy" Edward Williams, Sr., 78, of Statesville, passed away, Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Williams was born August 9, 1933 in Franklin County, AL, and was the son of the late Lindsey "Tate" Williams and Lou Irella Garrett Williams. He was a graduate of Russellville High School in Alabama and in 1955 was married to the late Joan Elizabeth Tew Williams, who passed away in 1989. He was a lifelong member of New Salem United Methodist Church and was retired from Mack Molding. Mr. Williams is survived by one son, James Edward Williams (Racel) of Statesville, one daughter, Michelle Williams Williams (Jack) of Hiddenite; four grandchildren, Keegan Williams of Hiddenite, James Edward Williams, III of Statesville, Mary Williams of High Point, Heather Williams of Cullowhee; one sister, Edna W. Harris (Jack) of Waterloo, AL; six cousins, Merilyn Head (Glenn) of Madison, TN, Martha Worth (Walter) of Gallatin, TN, Ronnie Williams (Carol) of Madison, TN, Mary Kimbrough of Auburn, AL, Betty Noble of Auburn, AL, Bill Williams (Sharon) of Russellville, AL, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at New Salem United Methodist Church with Pastor David Gay officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
