Mr. Charles Sabert Davis, Sr. 81, of Statesville, died Friday, December 19, 2014 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Born in Iredell County on June 12, 1933, he was a son of the late Charles Robey Davis and Mary Goble Davis. On November 13, 1965 he married the former Joan McDonald who survives. Mr. Davis was a retired Master Sergeant from the U. S. Air Force after 22 years and then after 20 years of service, he retired from the City Of Statesville as a Housing Inspector. He was a member of V.FW. Post # 2031 of Statesville where he served on the Burial Detail. He was a 1951 graduate of Statesville High School. Mr. Davis enjoyed his coffee, was an avid car mechanic and enjoyed working in his yard where he was an excellent landscaper, he enjoyed his tropical fish, reading and NASCAR also. He was also a member of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons: Tracy Robert Stone of Statesville, Shawn Andrew Stone and his wife Maureen of Conover, Christopher Adam Stone and his wife, Janice and Charles Sabert Davis, Jr. and his wife, Adana all of Statesville, daughters, Moura Stone Chastain and her husband, Nathan and Elizabeth Stone Hopkins and her husband, Allan all of Statesville, two sisters, Mary Lula Gosnell and Nina Lunsford both of Tennessee along with 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday December 22, 2014 at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Father Thomas J. Kessler officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 Monday morning at Nicholson Funeral Home. Burial with full military rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 27th at Oakwood Cemetery.
