James Charlie Henline, Sr., 74, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born January 29, 1939 in Burke County, NC and he was the son of the late Fred and Eulilia Hyatt Henline. Charlie was a graduate of Glen Alpine High School class of 1957 and was a member of the State Championship Football Team. He was retired from Duke Power Company following 32 years of service where he was the Lookout Dam Operator and also a lineman. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He was happily married for many years to Louise Watson Henline, who survives. Charlie enjoyed mowing, keeping up the yard, gardening, working on cars, attending class reunions, and most of all, loved all of his family and church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jesse Henline and one sister, Christine Powell. In addition to his wife, Louise, he is survived by two daughters and three sons, Sherry Garland (John), Charlie Henline, Jr. (Cindy), Todd Henline (Evie), and Rusty Henline, all of Statesville, and Traci Cox (Ronnie) of Garden City, SC. He is also survived by five grandsons, Ben Garland, Cody Garland (Bobbie), Caleb Garland, Garrett Henline, and Zack Cox, along with two granddaughters, Callie Henline and Payton Cox. One great-granddaughter, Charlie Faye Garland, one brother, Sam Henline (Betty) of Troutman and one sister, Betty H. Ray (Max) of Glen Alpine. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. A service to celebrate the life of Charlie Henline will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Olin Isenhour and Rev. Tony Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Andy Taylor, Jimmie Forbes, Mike McHargue, Robert Boggs, Dane Campbell, Keith Levan, and Mike Pope. Honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Sharpe, Ronnie McLain, Odean Bell and Lentz Waugh.
