Sonya Jean Campbell graced our lives on October 4, 1982. Her very first photograph depicted Sonya with both fists balled so tightly. This was the first indication that foretold she would become the embodiment of strength. We didn't fully understand the depths of this trait, but we soon learned of her willpower, formidable fortitude, and sheer tenacity.
She lived somewhere in the middle. Not white, not black, not gray, not even in our Milky Way, she would not sway. Broken bones, she was still stronger than stone, unmalleable. Fists always up.
She came like water, lived like a mighty wind, and went with the weight of a lead feather; she fought fists up until the end. Fists always up.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, January 5, 2024, at Nicholson Funerals & Cremations, Thomasville Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
