Mr. Vance Stephen "Skipper" Johnson, Sr, 60, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Skipper was born in Iredell County , the son of Betty Johnson and the late Bobby Johnson of Statesville, on June 17, 1951. Skipper was married to Kimberly Crawford Johnson on September 26, 1988. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by Grandma Crawford, a brother, Michael Johnson and an infant son, Allen Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Kim of the home; two sons, Vance Johnson, Jr. of the home and Chris Johnson of Statesville along with two daughters, Tricia Ballard Martin of Troutman and Stephanie Johnson Mishoe of Statesville. He is further survived by a stepson, Brandon Barber of Statesville; one sister, Nancy J. Faulk (Donald) of Statesville; one brother, David Johnson (Vickie) of Greenville, S.C. along with seven grandchildren. Skipper was a talented cook, gardener, and had a love for people and Harley's. He also loved his little dog, "Baby". Skipper was retired from the Salisbury Post where he worked as a photography tech. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life will be conducted 7:00 pm Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Karriker officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vance Johnson, Sr., Memorial Fund, c/o Nicholson Funeral Home, 135 E.
