Shirley Jean Parker Cothren, 78, of Statesville died Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Catawba County on January 20, 1942 to the late Walter David Parker and Mamie Mildred Null Parker. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Starrette, a sister, Ovaleen Privette and three brothers, Edgar, David, and Wayne Parker.
She loved working in her flowers, going to the beach, camping, and going to the mountains. Her favorite thing in the world was keeping her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 63 years, Lonnie “Ed” Cothren, a daughter, Kim Harris (Jr) of Union Grove, grandchildren, Jennifer York (Buddy) of Harmony, Kris Alexander Cichelli of Statesville, Brent Alexander (Kim) of Harmony, Emily Starrette of New York, Sarah Tucker (Dustin) of Winston-Salem, great grandchildren, Madison York, Caity York, Courtney York, Autumn Alexander, Caleb Cichelli and Emma Cichelli.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Jacob Scott officiating. The service will be live streamed beginning at promptly at 2:00. Due to Covid 19 restrictions the family asks that masks be worn, and that social distancing is observed.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville 28625 in memory of her daughter, Debbie.
