Mrs. Shelia Dagenhart Sells, 67, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Sells was born in Portsmouth, VA on September 7, 1945 and she was the daughter of the late Ronald Howard Dagenhart and Beulah Dearman Dagenhart Hayes. She was a graduate of Scotts High School and on October 26, 1963, she married William Robert "Billy" Sells, III, who survives. In her early years, she worked at J.C. Penny Distribution before joining the staff at Comm Scope, where she worked until her retirement. Following her retirement from Comm Scope, she worked part-time with the Iredell/Statesville schools. Mrs. Sells was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church where she attended the Nancy Wilson Sunday School class and was a member of the Clara Brincefield-Huff Circle. She was a devoted wife, mom and maw maw who always put others before herself and lived each day this way. In return she never expected anything and only wanted to see happiness her actions brought to others. In addition to her husband of 49 years, Mrs. Sells is also survived by four daughters, Kelly Daugherty (Jimmy Strider), Tracy Kurfees, Leslie Brown (Jay) and Jaden Sells along with one son, William Robert "Robbie" Sells IV. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Tyler and Sam Daugherty, Chase Sells, Bryce Kurfees, Cordie Stewart, Wil and Lawson Brown, and Morgan, Troy and Mary Sells. She is further survived by two brothers, Howard Dagenhart (Marie) and Terry Dagenhart along with one beloved sister, Brenda Pence (Bill). Funeral services for Mrs. Sells will be conducted 3:00 pm Monday, November 5, 2012 at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Spry and Dr. James "Skip" Cartin officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:30 until 2:30 pm at the church and at other times will be assembled at the home of Billy and Sheila Sells. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Wil Brown, Tyler and Sam Daugherty, Troy and Chase Sells, Chris and Curtis Dagenhart and Scott Pence. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Kurfees, Tony Daugherty, Justin and Alan Strider, Todd Everidge, Christian Matthews and Dean Hill. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the Iredell Memorial Hospital Emergency Department Staff, Dr. Vesa, Iredell Memorial Cardiac-Cath Lab Staff, as well as, Maria Martinez, Tresa Shaw, Janeen Navey, Chaplain Tom Sherrod, Dr. Bradford, Dr. Hatharasinghe, Dr. Sholar, Dr. Mills and all additional staff at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
