Sheldon Jackson Murdock, 86, of Troutman, went Home to be with his Lord Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born on February 21, 1932 in Iredell County to the late John Carl Murdock, Sr. and Mamie Odell Wallace Murdock.
Mr. Murdock was a graduate of Troutman High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. On October 2, 1955, he married Doris Ruth Shore Murdock, who survives. They shared over 63 years of marriage before his passing. He started his career working on the family dairy farm with his Dad and retired from McLean Trucking after 20 years of service. Mr. Murdock attended Temple Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Leigh Murdock; a grandson, Jacob Michael Southers; and nine brothers, Hubert, Roger, Harry, Paul Dean, Grady, Kenard, Russell, Hal, and John Carl Murdock, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris; four sons, Dennis Murdock (Nancy), Brent Murdock (Judy), Aaron Scott Murdock, and Chad Murdock (Lisa); a daughter, Natalie Moose (Jerry); three grandsons, Joshua Murdock, Justin Murdock, and Matthew Murdock; two granddaughters, Jessica Cross (Greg) and Cassie Osborne (Josh), and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday (today) evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
