Sarah Elizabeth (Lib Nesbit) Payne

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth “Lib” Nesbit Payne, 90, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Brian Center. Mrs. Payne was born September 9, 1925, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Luther and Lula Mae Phillips Nesbit.  She was educated in Iredell County schools and was married to Charlie Parks Payne, who passed away on November 19, 2005. Mrs. Payne was retired from Uniglass Ind. where she worked for over 35 years.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Estelle Nesbit and two brothers, Wade Nesbit and Robert Nesbit along with a niece, Denise Nesbit. She is survived by her step-daughter, Charlene Issak of Statesville and two granddaughters, Joann Rock Baker and Amanda Rock Gomez (Carlos) of Alabama.  She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at New Salem Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tim Stutts officiating.  The family will speak with friends following the graveside services.
