Sarah Hudspeth Smith Jackins, 100, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully Friday September 14, 2012 at Genesis Elder Care, in Mooresville. She was born July 16, 1912 in Mooresville, NC and was the daughter of the late Robert Gamewell Hudspeth and Eva Ballard Hudspeth. She attended Mooresville Schools and on December 5, 1970 she married the love of her life, Henry Smith. Following his death, she married Robert E. "Buck" Jackins, who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Jackins was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Springs. During her time at Presbyterian Church of the Springs, which was formerly Little Joe's Presbyterian Church, she held numerous positions in the church which included Superintendant of Sunday School, Sunday School Teacher, choir member, Chair of the Flower Committee and Chair of the Communion Committee. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a child care giver with Barium Springs Home for Children. Mrs. Jackins is survived by one step-son, Danny Jackins (Carmen) of Statesville, one step-son-in-law, Cecil Link of Nags Head, NC, step-children, step grandchildren and special friends Bill & Ellen Stevenson, Jim & Joan Hoover along with numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Jackins will be conducted at 4:00 pm Sunday, September 16, 2012 in the Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville with Dr. Neal Carter, Jr. officiating. Memorials can be made to the Presbyterian Church of the Springs. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Genesis Elder Care for the professional and kind care given to Sarah Jackins.
