Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Tayes, 76, of Statesville, passed away, Monday, March 30, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Tayes was born December 12, 1938 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Foy Lee Dishman and Mary Emma Dishman. She attended Iredell County Schools and in November of 1955, she was married to the late Arvel Lincoln Tayes, who passed away January 28, 1992. She was a member of Taylor Springs Baptist Church, worked at Beauty Maid Mills and was a volunteer at Iredell Memorial Hospital as a Pink Lady for 10 years. Mrs. Tayes is survived by two daughters, Carol Benfield of Harmony, Sybil Elliott (Danny) of Statesville, three grandchildren, Michael Benfield (Telitha), Melanie Blalock (James), Jason Benfield (Kristen); five great grandchildren, Caleb, Makayla, Levi, Hannah, James, one brother, James Dishman (Belinda), two sisters, Mary Williams (Jerry), Elda Dishman and special friends and family, Becky Campbell, Matthew, Cindy, Rebecca, Jean Hudgins and Homer Lee Jordan. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Taylor Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Williams and Rev. Mitch Rash officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
