Samuel Pierce VanHoy, 22, of Union Grove, died February 6, 2019. Born in Iredell County on November 6, 1996, he was a beloved son of Casey W. VanHoy and Julie Brewer VanHoy. Sam was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church and a graduate of North Iredell High School. He was a 2018 graduate of Mitchell Community College with an Associate degree in Agri-business. Sam was employed by Hennings Construction Company in site preparation work. Sam was an engaging young man, a loving individual and a good son. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved being with his friends. His family would like to extend thanks to the community for the outpouring of love and support.
Sam was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Pierce and Lillie Blanche VanHoy. Survivors include his father, Casey W. VanHoy and fiance’ Traci Young of the home, his mother, Julie Brewer Vanhoy of Greensboro, brother, Luke VanHoy, Uncles Thompson (Terese) VanHoy, J.P. (Nan) VanHoy of Union Grove, numerous cousins, and special friend Abby Tomlin.
Graveside service will take place in the Union Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Columbarium with Rev. Neill Shaw officiating, at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday. Immediately following the family will greet friends in the UGUMC Fellowship Hall.
