Mrs. Sadie Goodin Speaks, 85, of Harmony, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at her home. Mrs. Speaks was born in Iredell County on December 6, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Edgar Molden Goodin and Viola Creason Goodin. She attended Iredell County schools and on November 6, 1945 she married Coy Lee Speaks who survives. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and she will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Edgar Goodin and one sister, Jeanette Goodin. Along with her husband of 67 years Coy Lee, Mrs. Speaks is survived by three daughters, Patsy York (Emory) of Knightdale, NC, Shirley McCollum (Harvey) of Union Grove and Elaine Fulp (Roy) of Troutman along with three sons, Roger Speaks (Cathy) and C.L. Speaks (Trish), both of Statesville and Jeffrey Speaks of Union Grove. She is further survived by three sisters, Nonnie Hefner of Statesville, Linda Cook of Yadkinville and Carolyn Prevette of Kernersville along with one brother, Gary Goodin of Union Grove. Twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Speaks will be conducted 3:00 pm Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Grassy Knob Baptist Church with Rev. Dwight Dowell and Emory York officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:30 until 2:30 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
