Ronald "Ronnie" Wayne Morris

Ronald “Ronnie” Wayne Morris, 78, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Ronnie was born in Rock Hill, SC and was the son of the late Samuel Clinton Morris and Mildred Cleo Small Morris. He was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. Ronnie was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and on June 4, 1965 he married Judy Taft Morris and together they shared 54 years of marriage until his passing.
Ronnie worked for CEM, starting his career as a pipe fitter and welder before retiring as Vice President of the company.
Ronnie was an avid baseball fan. He also coached girls’ softball for many years including coaching his two daughters. He was also an avid golfer and loved Elvis Presley music. All things paled in comparison to the love he had for his family. He attended all of his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities without fail. He also had an especially close relationship with his wife’s family. Ronnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.
Along with his wife Judy, he is survived by two daughters, Kelley Morris James (Max) of Olin and Mandy Morris Tuggle (Doug) of Archdale and three grandchildren, Anna Lea James of Olin and Krista Bailey Tuggle and Joshua Jake Tuggle, both of Archdale. He is further survived by his in-laws, Elaine & Dennis Drake, Kathy & Robbie Duke, Randy & Teresa Taft, June Lang, and Martha Taft along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ronnie Morris will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 3, 2019 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Biggs officiating. The family will speak with friends following the service.
