Robert Talmadge Williams

Robert Talmadge Williams, 72, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House.  He was born in Alexander County on December 29, 1942 to the late W.D. and Etta Mae Childers Williams. Talmadge was a graduate of Alexander County Schools and served his country honorably in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  On June 30, 1968, he married Joann Roberta Williams Williams and they enjoyed over 46 years of marriage before his passing.  He was retired from the N.C. Dept. of Corrections where he was a Corrections Officer.  He was of Baptist faith. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Joann of the home; two sisters, Margaret W. Moose and Alice W. Crouch; four brothers, David Q., Wayne, Ronnie, and Jerry Williams, all of Taylorsville; a sister-in-law, Sharon York of Statesville; and his four legged children, Willow, Halo, Ebby, Jackson, and Credit Card. Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Frank Blankenship and Beau Mills officiating.  There will be a private burial on the family farm held at a later date.  The family will visit with friends from 5:30 until 7:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
