Robert Alan Mitchell, 55, of Statesville, died Monday at M & M Dairy Farm. Born in Newport News, Va., he was a son of William Frank Mitchell who survives and the late Astri Aasland Mitchell. He graduated from North Iredell High School and was an avid dairy farmer. He worked seven days a week yet had many friends and won several chili cook offs and was known for cooking BBQ ribs for his family and friends. He also volunteered for the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department.
On November 18, 2000, he married the former Lori Myers who survives. Also surviving are his step mother, Gayle Mitchell of Olin, a step daughter, Logan Fox of Statesville, a grandson, Titus Parks of Statesville and siblings: Bonnie Riddle, David Riddle Caitlyn Riddle, Aaron Riddle, Sharon Goodrich and Trey Goodrich and their children Avery and Grant, all of Michigan. Also surviving are step siblings: Keely ward, Chad Ward, Jackson Ward, Cooper Ward and Keith Smith along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Nicholson Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Lunsford officiating. Burial will follow in the Olin United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
