Col. Robert Charles Lybarger, U. S. Army Retired, 86, of Harmony, N.C., died Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living. Born in Brush, Colorado on December 12, 1932, he was a son of the late Willis Charles Lybarger and Helen Stark Lybarger. Col. Lybarger was of the Presbyterian faith and was the second oldest of five brothers and a sister. He was a Korean War and Viet Nam veteran and graduated from O.C.S. while in the Army. He loved travelling, was an avid bowler, enjoyed sports, especially golf as well as outdoor activities. He served as a county commissioner in Nevada for 12 years and moved to North Carolina in 2000.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Nell Rutledge Lybarger and a daughter, Irma Leanne Coffey.
Survivors include a two sons, Brian Lybarger and his wife, Lois of Harmony, and Brad Lybarger, 4 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Larry and Warren Lybarger and a sister, Elaine Giesler.
Interment will be later in the National Cemetery in Ft. Collins, Colorado with his wife. Condolences may be sent online to the family to
