Robert "Coach" Louis Scott

Robert “Coach” Louis Scott, 84, of Statesville, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House.
Coach, as he was affectionately known, was born in Newark, NJ on September 18, 1934 and was the son of the late John Robert Scott and Anne Louise Nichols Scott. He was a graduate of Hamilton Township High School and Trenton State College where he received his master’s in education.
On December 14, 1974 he married Tigi Spaeth Scott and together they shared 44 years of marriage until his death.
Coach worked for 32 years as a teacher in both NJ and in NC with his last teaching position being with Statesville Christian School where he coordinated the Physical Education program.
Coach was a member of the Elks Lodge of Lakewood, NJ and after his resignation, he had a calling on his life to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His passion was education and sharing his testimony and leading people to the Lord. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher.
In addition to his wife, Tigi, he is survived by one son, William Matthew Scott and two stepsons, Jeff David Gant and Ernest Paul Gant.
A service to celebrate the life of Bob “Coach” Scott will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, June 7, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Mason officiating.
