Rachel Michelle Lowe

December 8, 1971 — February 26, 2025

Lexington

It is with great sadness to announce the death of our sweet Rachel Michelle Lowe who passed away with her loving husband, father, kids, grandkids, and siblings by her side on February 26th at 6:16 am. Michelle fought a hard 2 month battle with complications after surgery.
She was born December 8th, 1971 and preceded in death by her mother Blanche Beatrice Gosnell and oldest sister Marsha Elaine Gosnell.

Michelle worked in retail most of her life and became good at catching thieves. However, what she excelled at was loving her family. Michelle kissed a couple of frogs in her day making her a momma. She is the mother of two crazy boys, Joshua Eugene Whitehead and William Gary Russell Dodson and she loved them with all her heart. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She had their significant others Bridgett and Amber as bonus daughters. She fiercely loved her grandkids Cheyenne, Allyssa, Haleigh, and Maddison.

She finally found her prince Lee Lowe. Head over heels they were off and running. They have been loving each other for over 10 years and were married on August 17th 2019. Lee gave her bonus kids Anthony, Cory, and Miranda Lowe whom she adored.

Lee and Michelle share a beautiful home on a lake and they loved filling their home with family and friends. She took a special interest in the lives of those who she loved. Michelle found joy in finding loving gifts to celebrate anything. She loved decorating for Christmas and having gifts wrapped and stacked to the ceiling (literally) for her family. Family get-togethers for holidays and any occasion delighted her. It was important to her to attend all birthdays and celebrations. Her baked mac and cheese and chicken and dumplings were a family favorite.

The doors were never locked, and family and friends had an open invitation to step inside anytime. If you were lucky, Michelle would whip you up a batch of her fantastic chicken salad.

She is survived by her father William “Capt Bill” Edwards. Frequently Capt Bill and his bride Mary Elena visited her and it always brought her joy to host them in her home. She will be sorely missed by her siblings Cathy Burns and her husband Mike, Jimi Edwards and his wife Karen, Billy Edwards and SO Kathy, Natalie Alvarado and her husband Alfredo, Samuel Edwards and his wife Alyissa, and Stephen Edwards. She has so many nieces, nephews, cousins and many lifelong friends to mention. We are all going to miss her horribly.

Michelle’s love transformed the lives of everyone she encountered. She brought a bounty of beauty to everything she did. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share herself and evoke that same spirit of love in each person she knew. She was also world-renowned for her mouth, not holding back her opinion and had a knack for telling it like it is. She always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear.

Michelle was a stubborn force to be reckoned with. An unrelenting advocate for being who you are and doing what you want. Her love of life was evident in the way she lived. Even just sitting on the porch turned into a fun time with family, friends, and of course food! The block will be different now without her waking everyone up with her music. For us, she really is that pebble thrown into a lake as the lives she touched act as ripples that extend far beyond just us.
There is so much more that should be said, but in the end, what she did was make our world a whole lot brighter.

A celebration of life will be held at their home on March 8th, 2025 at 2 pm 768 Lake Shore Ave Lexington, NC 27292.

Feel free to bring a poem that makes you think of her, a story to share with us, a covered dish, or dessert. If you need anything or get lost call Cathy Burns whose number is 276.356.3478.
