Preston Gilbert

Mr. Preston Lee Gilbert, 78, of Boston, MA and formerly of Lenoir, N.C. passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston, MA Mr. Gilbert was born October 28, 1933 in Caldwell County and was the son of Carl Lee Gilbert and the late Bertha Curtis Gilbert. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Malcahy Gilbert and one grandson, Frankie Gilbert. Along with his father, Carl Lee Gilbert, Sr., of Lenoir, Mr. Gilbert is also survived by three daughters, Carolyn Shephard (Mark), Teresa Gilbert and Denice Gilbert along with four sons, Carl, Johnny, Albert and Lester Gilbert, and eight grandchildren, all of Boston, MA. He is also survived by two brothers, Glenn Gilbert of Lenoir and Carl Lee Gilbert, Jr. (Brenda) of Troutman. He is further survived five sisters, Lettie Moretz, Jean Hatley, Frances Marler, Emma Whisnant and Carolyn Trivette (Ralph), all of Lenoir. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Gilbert will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Bixler officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the funeral service.
