Plummer Flippen Jones III

Plummer Flippen Jones III, 72, of Spartanburg, SC passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018.  He was born in Iredell County on August 15, 1945 to the late Plummer Flippen Jones Jr. and Frances Ramsey Jones.

Mr. Jones was a graduate of Statesville High School, UNC-Chapel Hill, and received his Master’s Degree from Georgia State University.  He was a member of MENSA.  He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.  On July 16, 1967, he married Eloise Freeman and they shared over 50 years of marriage before his passing.  Plummer worked in medical technology most of his career but changed to teaching which he greatly enjoyed.  He was a member of Skylyn Drive Presbyterian Church where he had served as an Elder, youth leader, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, a daughter, two grandchildren, one brother, and a sister.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 4:00 pm Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Skylyn Drive Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg.  The family will visit with friends at the church prior to the service from 3:00 until 3:45 pm.  A graveside service will be held 4:00 pm Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville.
