Mrs. Peggy Watt McNeely, 77, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born on June 30, 1937 to the late Thomas and Bessie Watt. She graduated valedictorian, from Celeste Henkel High School. On November 11, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Blake McNeely. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and also a member of the VFW Post 2031 Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her only son, Alan McNeely, brothers, James, David and Robert Watt and sisters, Francis Privette, Ann Poole and Betty Myers. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Blake McNeely, daughter, Karen Brotherton (John Harmke), grandson, James Blake Goss, 102 year old mother-in-law, Maude McNeely, daughter-in-law, Melissa Fox, brother, Tom Watt (Doris) and sister, Nancy Wooten (Lonnie), along with several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. H. Cowles Bristol III officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 prior to the service. A private burial service will follow at a later date.
