Mrs. Pauline Wooten Benfield, 93, of Statesville, died Tuesday evening, September 5, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on December 19, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Henry Coleman Wooten and Bessie Carrigan Wooten. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Benfield in 2014. She graduated from Celeste Henkel High School and was a homemaker. She was also a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Benfield, two brothers, Coleman and J.P. Wooten, and a grandson, Richard Eugene Benfield. Survivors include sons, Terry Albert Benfield and Johnny Ray Benfield, both of Statesville, a daughter, Carolyn Sue Benfield of the home, a sister, Anna Belle Shoemaker and a brother, Billy Wayne Wooten. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 :00 P. M. Saturday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. Olin Isenhour and Rev. Heather Kilbourne officiating. She will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow in the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and at other times will gather at the residence. Condolences may be sent online to the family to
