Paul Herman May

Paul Herman May, 67, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House.  He was born in Mercer, PA on December 24, 1948 to the late Herman Henry May and Gertrude Meadows May. Paul was a graduate of Commodore Perry School and Youngstown State University.  He married Alice Kahler on December 19, 1970 and they shared over 45 years of marriage before his passing.  Paul retired after 30 years of service to Industrial Distribution Group, Inc. where he was a tool crib manager at various plants including Dana and the Goodyear Mold Plant.  He was a member of First Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church and was very active in the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department having served as a Volunteer Firefighter for over 20 years and on the Board of Directors as secretary for over 13 years.  He served as the Precinct 2 Judge for the Elections Board for many years.  Paul and his wife, Alice, held a Sunday morning ministry at Autumn Care for over 14 years.  He was dedicated to all his pursuits, loved golf, and had many friends who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Alice; a daughter, Christina May Lovingood (John); three grandchildren, Evelyn, Grant, and Daphne Lovingood; two sisters, June Mohr and Karen Johnson (Peter); and sister-in-law, Shirley Martin (Henri). Funeral services for Paul will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil McCoy, Rev. Cowles Bristol, III, and Rev. Tony Bunton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.  The Board Members of Trinity Volunteer Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.  The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening, September 7, 2016 at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Memorials may be made to Trinity Fire Dept.,2997 Wilkesboro Hwy, Statesville, NC 28625 or to First ARP Church, 123 E.
