Mrs. Patsy Shumaker Combs

Mrs. Patsy Ann Shumaker Combs, 83, of Statesville, died Monday, May 27, 2019 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Born in Iredell County on July 22, 1935, she was a daughter of the late David Clarence Shumaker and Hessie Johnson Shumaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Combs and a son, David Combs. She was also preceded in death by brothers, D. C. Shumaker and Jimmy Shumaker and sisters, Jeanette Nicholson and Mildred Cook.
She was a homemaker, a member of New Hope Baptist Church and dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was active in community senior citizens groups as long as she was able. She graduated from Harmony High School.
Survivors include two sons, Lanny Combs and Todd Combs and his wife, Marie, two sisters, Betty Smith and Sylvia Johnson. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Corey Combs, Garrett Combs and his wife, Taylor and Maleah Crouse and her husband, Joe.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Ellis and Rev. Ervil Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends Thursday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:0 P.M.
