Dr. Pam Nicholson

Dr. Pamela Bond Nicholson, 50, of Statesville, died unexpectedly on Monday, December 2, 2013. Dr. Nicholson was born July 16, 1963 in Massena, NY to Beryl Wirths Bond and the late Norman Tuttle Bond. She attended Hamilton College in Clinton, NY where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with her BS in Biology. She subsequently attended Duke University Medical School, where she met the love of her life, John Christie Nicholson. They were married in Massena on July 9, 1988 while completing their medical doctoral degrees. They moved to Iowa City to complete their residency and begin a family living in Iowa, the Dominican Republic, North Carolina, and Vermont. An avid musician and loving mother, Pam's quirky sense of humor and giving spirit will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her mother and husband, she leaves behind five children: Jennifer Erin Nicholson and her fianc� Tamar Greene, Sara Lynn Nicholson, Emily Nicole Nicholson, Zachary Tuttle Nicholson, and Christian Michael Nicholson. She is also survived by her sister Karen Schillinger with husband Earl (Rochester, NY). Her two brothers Eric Bond with wife June (Brentwood,TN), and Jeff Bond with wife Susan (Williston, VT). John's sister, Amanda Britt with husband Allen (Charlotte, NC), and brothers Hale Nicholson (Willits, Ca), Miller Nicholson with wife Cindy (Charlotte, NC), Michael Nicholson with wife Carla (Bautzen, Germany), Stuart Nicholson and wife Renee (Cary, NC). She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Nicholas Bond (wife Stephanie Zonak, son Julian), Bradley Bond (wife ShanShan), Stephanie Bond, Ben Bond, Hannah Bond, Brita Nicholson, Maija Nicholson, Dalton Nicholson, Austin Nicholson, Laine Nicholson, Johann Michalski-Thamm, Elisa Nicholson, Alex Nicholson, Abby Nicholson, Anna Stuart Nicholson. John's father, Henry H. Nicholson, Jr. and mother Freda Nicholson (Charlotte, NC). She is survived by her cousins: Ann Thoits (husband Russ), Nancy Doyle, Bruce Bond, and her best friend and college roommate Amy Biancolli. A memorial service will be Thursday, December 12 at 4:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church with visitation following. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Dr. Pamela Bond Nicholson.
