The morning of Thursday, August 22, at 8:13 a.m. the Lord Jesus Christ welcomed P. Ned Harper into His loving arms. Ned, age 69, was a resident of Cornelius, NC. Mr. Harper, born February 4, 1944 in Chester, SC, was the son of the late William "Bill" and Lydia Neely Harper. Ned, a graduate of The University of South Carolina, married Jane Duncan on March 31, 1962. Mr. Harper was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Charlotte where he served as an elder in the church. He was self employed as a financial planner. In addition to his wife, Jane, Ned is survived by two sons, Paul Ned Harper, Jr. of Cornelius, NC, his sons, Christian Matthew Harper of Knoxville, TN, Christopher Nicholas Estes of Columbia, SC, and Andrew Alexander Harper, and sons Cole and Levi of Wilmington, NC and William Broughton Harper and wife, Pam Morrison Harper, along with two daughters, Julia Elise Harper and Rebecca Jane Harper, all of Charlotte. A celebration of Ned's life will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 2:00pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 465 Hartness Road in Statesville, NC. Pastor William Gittner will preside. Following the service, the family will visit with friends in the Fellowship Hall, where refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2940 Commonwealth Ave. Charlotte, NC 28205 or to Point of Grace Lutheran Church, 20700 N Main St # 102 Cornelius, NC 28031.
