Olus Jethro Burrell, 73, of Statesville, passed away after a brief illness, Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born June 25, 1942 in Lincoln County to the late Julius Jethro and Ethel Burnette Burrell. He was a retired truck driver, having been in the profession for over 32 years and was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Connolly Burrell, brothers Calvin, David, and Haskell Burrell and two sisters, Hazel Deal and Ethel Bumgarner. He is survived by two sons, Dean, of the home and Jared (Nicole) of Elkin and three grandchildren, K’Lyn Riley Shearer of Bostic, NC, Ashley and Alan Burrell of Elkin. Two sisters, Ruby Hoke of Statesville and Melba Freeman of Waynesville, along with numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Beulah Heights Wesleyan Church in Troutman with Rev. Trent Patterson and Rev. Ben Black officiating.
