Mrs. Odions H. Parks, 90, of Statesville, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House following a long and challenging struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on July 21, 1925 in Grayson County, Va. to William Edgar Hoffman and Veredie Leota Hagamann Hoffman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. William Warren Parks, three brothers and one sister. Educated in Virginia schools, Odions then pursued a career in nursing following her graduation from Davis School Of Nursing in Statesville. She worked at the old Long’s Hospital, Iredell Memorial Hospital and Hill Haven Nursing Center until her retirement in 1987. Through her marriage to Mr. Parks, they were blessed with three children: Joe Parks of Matthews, N.C., Kay Bridges (Archie) of Statesville and Rick Parks (Angie) of Lexington, S.C. Odions leaves fond and cherished memories with her four grandchildren: Kristi Land (Darrin), Rebecca Jackson (Joey), Joshua Parks (Lauren) and Jeremy Parks (Kristen) along with her five great grandchildren: Kaylee and Rylie Land, Drake Jackson and Ren and McClane Parks. Numerous nieces and nephews remain to honor her memory. A woman of deep faith and the soul of her family, Odions was an active and dedicated member of the Church Of Christ for more than 50 years. Her life will be remembered on Sunday with a 3:00 graveside service in the Abilene Church Of Christ Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 Sunday prior to the graveside in the church sanctuary. Condolences may be sent online to the family to
