Odas Franklin Haynes, 91, of Mooresville, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born in Harmony on December 17, 1925 to the late Thomas Vance Haynes and Roseanna Sharpe Haynes. Mr. Haynes was a graduate of Harmony High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was married to Bernice Sharpe Haynes who preceded him in death. Mr. Haynes was a member of Winthrop Friends Meeting and was very active when he was able. He retired after 43 years of service from J.C. Penney Warehouse where he was a shipping clerk and worked in quality control. Mr. Haynes enjoyed woodworking especially working with clocks and loved his log cabin on the lake that he built with his wife, Bernice and son, Carl. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Carl Haynes and wife Missy; his granddaughter, Macey Haynes, all of Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Winthrop Friends Meeting with Pastor Harold Salmons officiating. Burial with military honors provided by North Iredell American Legion Post 113 will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service and the family will visit with friends in the fellowship hall following the graveside portion of the service.
