Mrs. Norma “Mama†“Slu†Allison Link, 96, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Rosewood Assisted Living. She was born in Iredell County on September 16, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Jessie Allison and Norma Hatchett Allison. She was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School and was married to Benjamin Patrick “Pat†Link, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1989. Mrs. Link was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. She retired from Mitchell Community College where she worked for many years as the lead dietitian. Prior to that, she was the kitchen manager at Vance Hotel. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Fan Allison and a brother, Jake Allison. She is survived by her son, Benjamin Patrick Link, III, and a granddaughter, Allison Lynn Gennusa (Christopher) both of Statesville. She is also survived by two great-grandsons, Joseph Colby Carter (Crystal) of Burlington and Jake Matthew Ripp (Brooke) of Pearl River, LA. Funeral services for Mama Slu Link will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, December 7, 2015, in the chapel at Broad Street UMC with Rev. Carrilea Potter officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Colby Carter, Richard Cornett, Casey Cornett, Chris Gennusa, and Frank Isenhour.
