Mrs. Norma Mae Holland Bustle, 79, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 19 at Brookdale Assisted Living.
Mrs. Bustle was born in Iredell County on June 18, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Atwell Holland and Ruby Sprinkle Holland. She was a graduate of Central High School and in June 1971 she married Virgil Bustle and together they shared 47 years of marriage until her passing.
Mrs. Bustle was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and along with Virgil, attended regularly until her health no longer allowed.
She was a homemaker and that allowed her to care for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved her family and her church family. She greatly enjoyed her annual trips to Maggie Valley. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Robin Rhyne Scott and one sister, Delois H. Prevette.
Along with her husband, she is survived by two sons, Tony Rhyne (Loreilie) and Johnny Rhyne, both of Statesville, three step-sons, Virgil Bustle, Jr. (Mary) of Taylorsville, Rex Bustle, of Statesville and Roger Bustle (Mary) of Mt. Airy along three step-daughters, Patricia Johnson of Troutman, Rebecca Johnson of Harmony, and Wanda Matthews of Maiden. One sister, Sheila Clendenin (Ray) of Statesville and 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services honoring the life of Norma Bustle will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday, April 23 at New Prospect Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Byrd and Rev. Jerry Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home.
