Nellie Mae (Campbell) Anderson

Nellie Mae Campbell Anderson, 79, of Statesville, died Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House.

Nellie was born in Alexander County on March 4, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Lex Campbell and Zelma Coffey Campbell.  She attended Alexander County schools and on July 5, 1953 she married Clyde Welborn Anderson who passed away February 17, 1974.  Nellie was a homemaker and her joy was taking care of her family.

Nellie loved roses of all colors.  She had a passion for gardening and growing vegetables which she canned for family to have during the cold months.  Nothing compared to the love she had for her grandkids.  She will be missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Rita Montaigne, two sisters, Margaret Anderson and Betty Moore, one brother, Gary Campbell along with five grandchildren, Tammy Inscoe, Billy Lee Montaigne, Steven Clyde Anderson, Jr, Tiffany Montaigne and Misty Montaigne.

Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Fabian Anderson of Statesville, Billy Anderson of W.V., and Steven Anderson (Barbara) of Statesville along with two daughters, Patty Inscoe of Statesville and Kay Montaigne of Stony Point.  She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren in addition to three sisters, Reba Campbell, Nancy Dishmon, and Judy Ann Munday along with four brothers, Jack, Everette, J.R, and Marshall Campbell.

Funeral services for Nellie Anderson will be conducted 2 PM Tuesday, December 18 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bruce Byrd officiating.  Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.  The family will visit with friends starting at 12 PM Tuesday until 1:45 at Nicholson Funeral Home.  The family will be gathered at other times at the home of her daughter, Kay Montaigne.
